GET INVOLVED
Grief Support Services often has opportunities for trained Counsellors, new Board Members and Volunteers. If you are interested, we would like to meet you.

Volunteers are a vital part of the service that Grief Support Services provides to those who are suffering through grief and loss. Volunteering is a valuable way of making a difference in your community, working alongside paid staff and under the supervision of the General Manager. Volunteering can give you an opportunity to put your skills to good use and provide a sense of pride and accomplishment.

We look for people with warmth and openness, maturity, empathy and good communication skills.

Board Member
Grief Support Services is a not for profit organisation offering counselling to those who suffer grief from many causes. The service is provided by trained, professional counsellors located in Greerton. There is a team of paid staff, volunteers and students.

The current Board members have a diverse and experienced skill base. They bring their governance skills and passion for a better community to the Board.
We are looking to support our organisation to meet the growing needs of our community through an understanding of governance and our responsibilities under Te Tiriti.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced or developing governance Board members to contribute to the Western Bay of Plenty community.
Suicide Loss Support Peers
Grief Support Services are inviting people with lived experience of suicide bereavement to express interest in joining our Suicide Loss Service Peer Team. These volunteer peers provide one-on-one time supporting other people who have also been bereaved by suicide. The peers assist with emotional and practical support and full training is given. We welcome all adult applicants, with particular availability for male volunteers and people from Maori and Pasifika communities. Contact us on 07 578 4480 or email our Suicide Loss Support Coordinator for details through the link below.
Volunteer Counsellors
We have no current volunteer Counsellor positions available.
Fundraising Opportunities or Corporate Sponsorship
There are a number of ways in which individuals and businesses can support our fundraising efforts. You could hold an event such as a bake sale, talent show, car wash, games night, afternoon tea, yard sale or house party. You can use our fundraising platform to very easily set up, manage and promote a peer-to-peer fundraiser. It might be a fitness challenge such as covering a certain distance or achieving a daily target. You could give something up for a set amount of time or start a new good habit for 30 days. It could be in lieu of birthday presents or as a memorial to someone.
We have a comprehensive sponsorship presentation available for you to view or our Funding Coordinator, is happy to discuss corporate opportunities with you.
