Grief can feel isolating, but being alongside others who understand can bring comfort and connection. Our annual Remembrance Picnic, on Sunday 20 September from 12pm–3pm at The Elms | Te Papa Tauranga, offers a gentle opportunity for people affected by suicide loss to come together in a caring and supportive space.
There is no pressure or expectation to talk about your person or share your story. Come as you are, honour their life in whatever way feels right for you, and stay for as long or as little as you like. Sometimes, simply being present is enough.
Bring your own picnic, along with a blanket or chairs. You may also wish to bring a photograph or special item to add to our remembrance area, where there will be space for quiet reflection and carrying memories forward together.

The Remembrance Picnic is open to anyone affected by suicide loss and is free to attend. Friends, whānau, wider support people and children are warmly welcome, although parental discretion is advised due to the sensitive nature of the event.
The event will be held in the Festivals Cottage area of The Elms, with marquees available if the weather is unsettled. Further information about registration, parking and the programme will be shared closer to the event.
